I have been in this field of Early Childhood Education since 1985 and believe strongly in the critical impact of development in the early years especially in the formation of intelligence, personality, and social behavior. Parents and teachers must take this crucial period of children's formative years very seriously and dedicate their time for the benefit of their children. The children of today are the Leaders of tomorrow. We must admit that both biological and environmental factors affect their brain development and behavior.
Early Childhood Development research has proven that children who participate in well-conceived ECD programs tend to be more successful in later school, are more competent socially and emotionally, and show higher verbal and intellectual development during early childhood than children who are not enrolled in quality programs. Ensuring healthy child development, therefore, is an investment in a country's future.
I have also seen in my years of practice how young children experience extreme stress from their parents and teachers who have over expectations over them. They are at a greater risk for developing cognitive, behavioral or emotional difficulties. These obstructions can have lasting effects on their readiness for school and later on their performance in everything that they do. Based on new research and a new understanding of the complete well-being of the child, early child development is increasingly being put on the agenda for children's rights. Reaching children in a holistic manner and incorporating health, nutrition, education and interventions that support their full development is crucial.
I believe my site will be of value to those who have interest in this field especially teachers and parents. Please feel free to comment as well as share your ideas for the well being of our future generation.
